Electrical Repairs in Glasgow

A breaker that keeps going, a socket that has stopped working, lights that dim when the kettle goes on. Our qualified electricians find the actual fault rather than swapping the obvious thing and hoping, and you get the certification the work legally needs. One number, and we manage it, so you are not chasing a separate electrician yourself.

What Happens When You Call

1

You describe the symptom, not the diagnosis

What has stopped working, whether anything smells or feels warm, whether it is one room or the whole flat. That tells us how urgent it is and what the electrician should bring.

2

Fault-finding before parts

The electrician isolates safely and traces the actual fault rather than replacing the obvious component and hoping. It is slower for the first ten minutes and faster for the whole job.

3

Clear price, then the repair

You get the price once the fault is known, and nothing goes ahead until you have said yes.

4

Test, certify, tidy

The circuit is tested after the repair, certification issued by the electrician where the work is notifiable, and nothing left exposed or half-made-good.

Glasgow Wiring, and What Tends to Go Wrong

Victorian and Edwardian tenements across the Southside, Dennistoun and the West End are the most common electrical callouts we manage, and the pattern is consistent: wiring altered in pieces over many decades rather than rewired once. That leaves installations where a modern kitchen circuit sits alongside cable that predates the 2004 colour change, tucked behind original cornicing and plasterwork that residents understandably do not want disturbed. Tracing a fault properly in these matters more than it does in a newer property.

The high proportion of rented flats across the city keeps landlord EICR work steady alongside repairs, and the two frequently arrive together, an inspection flags remedials and the remedials are the actual job. Handling both through one contact is usually quicker and cheaper than treating them as separate pieces of work.

Post-war semis and estate housing towards Knightswood, Drumchapel, Cumbernauld and East Kilbride tend to have had a rewire at some point, so the installations are more predictable. What turns up here is more often a consumer unit that is now a generation behind current protection standards, working but without the RCD coverage a modern board provides.

Newer flats and conversions around the city centre, Finnieston and Tradeston have modern installations that fault far less often. When they do it is usually a specific component, an accessory failing or a circuit overloaded by how the space is actually being used rather than how it was designed, which is a quick diagnosis once someone looks properly.

Who You'll Get

Electrical work is carried out by our qualified electricians. Mo, David, Paul and Kyle are the Gas Safe and plumbing side of the business and none of them hold an electrical qualification, so we do not put their names against this work. What the arrangement gives you is a single company managing the job end to end. You ring one number, we work out what is actually needed, and where a job crosses trades, an electric shower needing both a water supply and a heavy cable, a kitchen needing plumbing and power, a bathroom fan needing ducting and wiring, you are not left coordinating two contractors who blame each other when something does not line up.

What Else Often Comes Up

Electrical faults have a habit of arriving alongside something else, and it is worth mentioning on the call. Anywhere water and electricity meet is the obvious one, a leak under a sink or a shower tray reaching a socket or a light fitting below, and that combination is treated as urgent rather than booked. Damp is the slower version of the same problem, since persistent damp in a wall will eventually affect the circuits running through it. And where a fault is on a circuit feeding an appliance we installed, a shower, an extractor, a kitchen appliance, tell us, because it is the same company either way and there is no argument to be had about whose responsibility it is.

Pricing, In Plain Terms

We give you a clear price before any work starts and that price is what goes on the invoice. On electrical repairs the cost is driven mostly by how far into the installation the fault sits. A faulty socket or switch replaced at an accessible point is at the straightforward end. A fault that means tracing back through a circuit, or one behind plasterwork in an older property, takes longer and we will say so before starting rather than letting the bill drift. Where a repair turns out to be a symptom of something bigger, an installation genuinely at the end of its life, we will price the honest option rather than a repair we expect you to call us back about.

Repair It, or Is the Installation Past Repairing?

Most electrical faults are worth repairing and that is the usual answer. The point where repair stops being sensible is fairly specific, so it is worth knowing the markers rather than being told vaguely that things are old. Rubber or fabric-insulated cable, which crumbles and is genuinely a fire risk, means rewiring rather than patching. A fuse board with rewireable fuses and no RCD protection means the installation predates protections now considered basic, and repairing around it leaves that gap in place. And a pattern of three or four separate faults on different circuits within a year usually means the installation as a whole is failing rather than individual components. If none of those apply, expect us to repair it and expect that to hold. If one or more does, we will say so, and we would rather tell you that than take money for a repair that buys a few months.

Communication was excellent from my 1st contact with Moe to the completion of the work. This included follow-up messages…

Our radiator pipe was bent and leaking. They answered straight away… Guy was here an hour later and he was wearing ID, very professional, patient and kind. We just got a new carpet in this room and he done an amazing job on getting little to no water on it. Couldn't recommend enough, price was reasonable.

We lost heating just in time for the coldest day of the year with a baby in the house… When I contacted them they were ready to dispatch that night. Fixed by the afternoon. Quoted that morning and no extra charges were added. Honestly cannot thank them enough.

As a small business owner, I needed a drainage company that could respond quickly. The team attended first thing in the morning, cleared the blocked drain and carried out a full CCTV survey. All documentation emailed across promptly. Professional, efficient and great value for money.
