What Else Often Comes Up
Two things are worth mentioning when you call. Low mains pressure is the first, because an electric shower is fed from the cold mains and a property with weak incoming pressure will give a weak shower no matter which unit goes on the wall, so it is better known beforehand than discovered at commissioning. The second is the age of the consumer unit, since a shower is one of the heaviest loads in a domestic property and it is not unusual for the install to be the moment an older board without RCD protection gets flagged. If that comes up we price it separately and honestly rather than folding it in unannounced.
Pricing, In Plain Terms
You get one price covering both trades before anything starts, and that price is what goes on the invoice. What moves it is almost always the cable rather than the shower. Where the existing cable and isolator are the right rating, this is a straightforward swap. Where a new run is needed back to the consumer unit, that is the bulk of the cost, and it goes up again if the route means lifting flooring or chasing a wall rather than running through an accessible space. The plumbing side is usually the predictable part. We will show you which situation your property is in at survey, so the number does not move afterwards.
