Plenty of heating problems aren't boiler problems. Rooms that never warm up, radiators that fight each other, controls nobody's ever set properly. David and Mo work on the whole system rather than just the box on the wall, which is usually where the actual fault turns out to be.
Tell us what's up, we usually get back within the hour with a clear price.
Which rooms are cold, when, whether hot water is affected, what the controls are set to. The pattern of the symptom usually narrows the cause before anyone arrives.
Flow and return temperatures, pump operation, valve function, radiator performance across the property, boiler readings. Looking at one part in isolation is how the wrong thing gets replaced.
You get a price and an honest split between what needs doing now and what can wait. Not everything we find has to be fixed this visit, and we'll say so.
Repairs completed, system balanced where it needs it, controls set properly, then run up to temperature and checked room by room before we leave.
Here's what heating engineerfrom Mo's team includes.
Clear price before we start, whole-system diagnosis, work guaranteed for 12 months.
Tenement flats across the West End, Southside and Partick often run heating on pipework that has been extended and altered over decades, with radiators added to rooms the original system was never designed to reach. That's why balancing matters so much here, the far end of a system that's grown organically almost never gets its fair share of flow without someone deliberately setting it.
Post-war semis and estate housing out towards Knightswood, Cumbernauld and East Kilbride typically have systems old enough to have accumulated real sludge, and it shows up as radiators cold at the bottom long before it shows up as a boiler fault. These are the properties where a powerflush genuinely changes how the house heats rather than being an upsell.
Larger properties towards Bearsden, Milngavie and Newton Mearns tend to run system boilers with cylinders and often multiple heating zones, which means more valves, more controls and more places for a fault to hide. Diagnosing a zone valve failure in a two-zone system is a different job to a straightforward combi fault and we'll be upfront about that.
Newer flats and conversions across the city centre, Finnieston and Tradeston usually have modern, well-sized systems where the most common complaint is not a fault at all but controls nobody has ever set up properly. It's the cheapest heating problem to fix and one of the most common ones we're called about.
David is the dedicated heating engineer on the team and Gas Safe registered, with Mo covering gas and boiler work alongside him. The distinction that matters on this kind of work is treating heating as a system rather than a collection of parts, a cold radiator, a noisy pump and a boiler that keeps cutting out are frequently three symptoms of the same underlying problem rather than three jobs. David's habit is to check flow and return temperatures across the whole property before touching anything, which is slower at the start and considerably faster than replacing components one at a time until the symptom goes away.
Heating faults cluster together more than most plumbing problems. A system that's never been balanced tends to have a pump working harder than it should, which shortens its life, and sludge that's built up enough to block radiators is usually also sitting in the boiler's heat exchanger. Pressure that keeps dropping points to a leak somewhere in the system rather than the boiler, and that's worth tracing properly rather than topping up indefinitely, since repeatedly refilling with fresh oxygenated water accelerates the corrosion that caused the sludge in the first place. If we're already in for one heating fault we'll flag whichever of these we can see, and be equally clear about which ones genuinely aren't urgent.
We give you a clear price before any work starts. Heating work varies a lot in scope, so the price follows the job rather than a flat rate, balancing a system of radiators is a different piece of work to replacing a motorised valve or running a full powerflush. What tends to move the cost is how much of the system needs attention rather than which specific part failed, since a fault in one place often points at a system that has been running unbalanced or uncleaned for years. We will always be clear about what genuinely needs doing now and what can safely be left, rather than quoting for everything at once.
Most people call about heating assuming the boiler is the problem, and a fair share of the time it isn't. A rough guide: if you have no heat and no hot water at all, or the boiler is showing a fault code and locking out, that usually is the boiler. If the boiler runs happily but some rooms never warm up, or the radiators are cold at the bottom, or the heating comes on at odd times, that's the system and the controls rather than the appliance. The distinction matters financially, because replacing a boiler that was never the problem is an expensive way to end up with the same cold back bedroom. If you're unsure, describe the symptom when you call and we'll work out which it is before anyone starts quoting for parts.

“Our radiator pipe was bent and leaking. They answered straight away… Guy was here an hour later and he was wearing ID, very professional, patient and kind. We just got a new carpet in this room and he done an amazing job on getting little to no water on it. Couldn't recommend enough, price was reasonable.”

“We lost heating just in time for the coldest day of the year with a baby in the house… When I contacted them they were ready to dispatch that night. Fixed by the afternoon. Quoted that morning and no extra charges were added. Honestly cannot thank them enough.”
