Yes. If a repair's going to cost more than a replacement makes sense for, we'll say so, even though the repair's the easier sale for us.

Do you offer a guarantee on repair work?

12 months on parts and labour for anything we fit. If the same fault recurs within that window, we come back and sort it at no extra cost.

Often we can narrow it down enough to bring the likely part, a specific fault code or symptom usually points somewhere. We won't quote a fixed price until we've actually seen it though, that's what the diagnostic visit is for.

It happens on older models, and we'll be upfront if a specific part's genuinely difficult to source rather than stringing you along with a vague timeframe. On a discontinued boiler that's already had a couple of repairs, this is usually the point we'll raise replacement as a realistic option.

How do I know if my boiler can be controlled that way?

Most appliances fitted in the last decade or so can, and it is usually listed in the manual under the control connections. Older ones generally cannot. Somewhere representative of the house rather than somewhere convenient. Out of direct sun, away from a radiator, not in a draught from a front door, and in a room that is used. The heating comes on at odd times we never set, what is doing that?

Very often an old programmer that was left in place when the smart control went in. Both are entitled to switch the heating, so the one you are not looking at turns it on at a time somebody set years ago. It looks like a fault in the new control and it is not. Will it actually save money?

Properly set up on a capable boiler, it genuinely can, mostly by letting the appliance run gently for longer rather than hard and short.
