If your boiler only ever locks out when the wind is up, write the dates down, because that pattern is the most useful thing you can tell us. Gusts coming down off the Kilsyth Hills can upset the airflow a fanned flue depends on, and on an exposed wall the cause of that kind of lockout can be where the terminal sits rather than anything inside the case.
Tell us what's up, we usually get back within the hour with a clear price.
In short: Boiler repair in Kilsyth G65 by Gas Safe engineers. Windy-day lockouts often point to the flue, not a failed part. Clear price before work.
Covering Kilsyth G65. Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm. Call Mo on 07988 591331.
On the streets climbing towards the Kilsyth Hills a boiler flue takes the wind with nothing in front of it to slow it down.
Kilsyth is an old mining town at the foot of the Kilsyth Hills, the eastern end of the Campsies, with Banton and Queenzieburn on either side and Croy across the valley. Older cottages and terraces sit around the centre, post-war council housing and later private estates climb the slopes behind them, and on the northern edge the open hillside starts almost at the back fence.
Nearly every boiler fitted in the last thirty years is room sealed and fanned. It draws its air in and pushes its exhaust out through the terminal on the wall or roof, and it checks that air is moving properly before it lights and all the time it burns. That check is a safety feature. When a strong gust hits the terminal at the wrong angle it can look to the boiler, for a second or two, exactly like a blocked flue, and the boiler does what it should and shuts down.
So the same appliance can run perfectly through a still month and then lock out three times in a stormy weekend with nothing inside it failing. What matters is which way the terminal faces, how close it sits to a corner, an eave or a neighbouring wall where the wind swirls, and whether exhaust is being blown back round to where the air comes in.
If the boiler is locked out and will not reset at all, that is the emergency boiler repair side, on the same number. This page covers booked repairs.
Booked boiler repairs across Kilsyth G65, on Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Baxi, Ideal and Vokera, all makes we are manufacturer certified for.
Blocked or slow drains go to the drainage side of the team on the same number.
Flue repositioning, plume kits, radiators, pumps, valves and controls.
Fine for weeks, then a lockout on each windy day and a clean reset the next morning. The same fault code turning up on the same kind of day is the clue. Changing a fan or a board on a boiler like that only means the next storm finds the same terminal in the same spot.
Wind does odd things where two walls meet or where a roof overhangs. A flue coming out near an internal corner, below a deep eave or beside a neighbour's extension can sit in an eddy that pushes back against it. Moving the terminal a short distance, or turning the flue, is often the whole repair.
On a concentric flue the air comes in round the outside of the same pipe the exhaust goes out of. In the wrong wind some of that exhaust curls back and gets pulled in again, which upsets combustion and can show as a flame fault rather than a flue one. A plume kit carrying the exhaust away from the intake sorts most of these.
A wire guard over a terminal stops hands and footballs reaching it, and that is all it does. It changes nothing about how the wind hits the flue. Where a terminal faces straight into the weather, the answer is a different exit point or a flue kit the manufacturer approves for that appliance.
Boiler repairs are Muhammad's side of the work, and he is Gas Safe registered. On a lockout like this the first thing he asks is when it happens rather than what the display said, and he walks round the outside of the house before the case comes off. If the problem is where the terminal sits, he will tell you so and price the flue work, rather than fitting a part the boiler did not need and leaving you to find that out in the next gale.
Kilsyth is priced the same as everywhere else we cover. You get a clear price before any work starts and that price is what goes on the invoice. A plume kit or a short flue alteration is usually a modest job. Taking the terminal out through a different wall is bigger, and we will say which one your house needs before you agree to anything.

“Our radiator pipe was bent and leaking. They answered straight away… Guy was here an hour later and he was wearing ID, very professional, patient and kind. We just got a new carpet in this room and he done an amazing job on getting little to no water on it. Couldn't recommend enough, price was reasonable.”

“We lost heating just in time for the coldest day of the year with a baby in the house… When I contacted them they were ready to dispatch that night. Fixed by the afternoon. Quoted that morning and no extra charges were added. Honestly cannot thank them enough.”

“As a small business owner, I needed a drainage company that could respond quickly. The team attended first thing in the morning, cleared the blocked drain and carried out a full CCTV survey. All documentation emailed across promptly. Professional, efficient and great value for money.”
