Kitchen Renovation in Glasgow

A tired kitchen usually isn't a broken kitchen. If the carcasses are sound, changing worktops, doors, sink and taps gets you most of the way to a new kitchen for a fraction of the cost and a fraction of the disruption. We'll tell you honestly whether yours is worth renovating or genuinely needs replacing.

What Happens When You Call

1

Survey and honest assessment

We look at the carcasses first, not the doors. That's what determines whether renovation is genuinely the right call, and we'll tell you if it isn't.

2

Templating where it's needed

Stone and composite worktops get templated and cut off site, which adds a wait of about a week. Laminate is cut on site. We'll plan the dates around whichever you choose.

3

Strip out and level up

Old worktops and doors off, carcasses checked, packed and levelled. Skipping this is why worktops end up with gaps at the wall.

4

Fit, plumb and finish

Worktops fitted and jointed, sink and taps plumbed in, doors hung and aligned, splashbacks and sealants finished. Offcuts and old units taken away, floor left clean.

What's Covered

Kitchen Renovations in Glasgow Properties

Tenement flats are where kitchen renovation makes most financial sense and where it's most fiddly to execute. Kitchens in these properties are frequently fitted into what was originally a scullery, with walls that are nowhere near square and floors that slope enough to matter. Levelling the existing carcasses properly before a new worktop goes on is most of the skill in these jobs.

Post-war semis and estate housing across Knightswood, Cumbernauld and East Kilbride typically have kitchens fitted in the 1990s or 2000s with sound carcasses and dated doors, which is close to the ideal renovation candidate. The main thing worth checking in these is the state of the base unit under the sink, decades of a slow tap drip does quiet damage.

Larger properties towards Bearsden, Milngavie and Newton Mearns more often have kitchens where the customer wants to change layout as well as finish, and that's the point where renovation starts turning into replacement. We'll price both honestly rather than quietly letting scope creep push a renovation into a full fit at renovation prices.

Newer flats and conversions across the city centre and Finnieston usually have modern, square, well-fitted kitchens where a straightforward door and worktop change goes in cleanly and quickly. These are the fastest jobs we do in this category and typically the cheapest.

Who You'll Get

Mo and Kyle handle the plumbing side of kitchen work, sink and tap installs, appliance connections and any waste reconfiguration, and Mo covers gas hob disconnection and refitting as a Gas Safe registered engineer. The fitting work, units, worktops and finishing, is handled by the team directly. Where a job needs electrical work, that needs a qualified electrician rather than us stretching what we're certified for, which is the same principle Mo has applied since 1999, do the parts you're genuinely qualified for properly and be honest about the rest.

What Else Often Comes Up

Kitchen renovation regularly turns up plumbing that's overdue attention, and it's much cheaper to deal with while the worktop is already off. Old isolation valves seized open, a waste trap that's been slowly leaking into the base unit, or a tap tail that's corroded enough it'll fail within a year are all common finds. Where we're fitting a new sink or moving one, checking and replacing the connections is part of the job rather than an extra. If a base unit has taken water damage from a leak nobody noticed, we'll show you before covering it up, since fitting a new worktop onto a compromised carcass is storing up a bigger problem for later.

Pricing, In Plain Terms

We give you a clear price before any work starts. On a renovation the material choice moves the price far more than the labour does, laminate worktops sit at one end and stone or composite at the other, with a real difference in both cost and lead time. Labour is fairly predictable at two to four days for most jobs. What can genuinely change things is what we find once the old worktop comes off, water damage to a carcass that was hidden under a sink is the most common surprise, and we'd rather show you that and reprice honestly than fit a new worktop over a unit that's quietly rotting underneath.

Renovate, or Replace The Whole Kitchen?

The honest test is structural, not aesthetic. Carcasses are what you're paying for in a new kitchen, so if yours are solid the argument for replacing them is weak, no matter how dated the doors look. Renovation wins when the layout works, the units are sound, and what you dislike is the finish. Replacement wins in three situations: the base units have taken water damage and are swelling or sagging, the layout genuinely fights how you use the room, or you want to move plumbing and appliances far enough that you're rebuilding around them anyway. There's also a middle path people forget, keeping the carcasses but reconfiguring one section, which is often enough to fix a layout complaint without a full strip-out. We'll walk through which of these you're actually in on the survey rather than quoting for the biggest version by default.

Kitchen Renovation Questions

Usually considerably, because the carcasses are the part you're keeping and they're a big share of both the cost and the labour. If your units are structurally sound and the layout works, changing doors, worktops and the sink gets you most of the visual change for a lot less.

Communication was excellent from my 1st contact with Moe to the completion of the work. This included follow-up messages…

Our radiator pipe was bent and leaking. They answered straight away… Guy was here an hour later and he was wearing ID, very professional, patient and kind. We just got a new carpet in this room and he done an amazing job on getting little to no water on it. Couldn't recommend enough, price was reasonable.

We lost heating just in time for the coldest day of the year with a baby in the house… When I contacted them they were ready to dispatch that night. Fixed by the afternoon. Quoted that morning and no extra charges were added. Honestly cannot thank them enough.

As a small business owner, I needed a drainage company that could respond quickly. The team attended first thing in the morning, cleared the blocked drain and carried out a full CCTV survey. All documentation emailed across promptly. Professional, efficient and great value for money.
