Toilet Installation in Glasgow

Fitting a toilet looks straightforward right up until you are on the bathroom floor holding a pan that will not line up with a soil pipe fitted in 1930. Mo and Kyle fit close-coupled, back-to-wall and wall-hung units, and the part that takes the time is almost always the connection to what is already there rather than the toilet itself.

What Happens When You Call

1

Check the waste connection first

In older properties this is what decides whether the job is two hours or half a day, and it is worth establishing before a unit is bought rather than after it is delivered.

2

Old unit out and away

Water off at the isolation valve where there is one, unit removed and taken with us rather than left on the landing.

3

Fit, level and seal

New pan and cistern fitted, levelled and packed so nothing rocks, waste connected properly and the base siliconed to the floor.

4

Flush test and tidy

Run and checked for leaks at the connection and the cistern, seat fitted and adjusted, everything cleared away.

Who You'll Get

Mo and Kyle fit these. There is not much glamour in a toilet installation and we would not pretend otherwise, but there are two details that separate one that lasts from one that is back on the callout list: the pan properly packed and sealed so it cannot rock, and a waste connection made to suit the pipe that is actually there rather than forced to fit. In Glasgow tenements the second one is most of the job.

What Else Often Comes Up

A toilet going in is a sensible moment to deal with what is around it. Isolation valves are the obvious one, since a bathroom with no valves means every future job starts by shutting off the flat. Slow drainage on the same waste run is worth mentioning, because it will not improve on its own and it is easier reached while the pan is off. And if the floor under the old unit is soft or discoloured, tell us rather than covering it, because a toilet that has been weeping quietly at the base for years is a repair to the floor and not just to the toilet.

Pricing, In Plain Terms

We give you a clear price before starting and that price is what goes on the invoice. On a straight swap in a property where the waste lines up, this is one of the more predictable jobs we do and we can often price it from a description. What changes it is the connection, particularly in older tenement flats where the soil pipe position and the pan outlet do not naturally meet and an offset or flexible connector is needed. Wall-hung units are a different job again, since the frame has to be fixed properly and the wall built out. Removal and disposal of the old unit is included rather than added at the end.

Close-Coupled, Back-to-Wall or Wall-Hung?

Close-coupled is the standard toilet with the cistern sitting on the pan, and for most bathrooms it is the right answer: cheapest to buy, quickest to fit, easiest to service, and anything that goes wrong is reachable. Back-to-wall hides the cistern in a furniture unit, which looks tidier and gives you a surface, at moderate extra cost and slightly more work to get at the internals later. Wall-hung takes the pan off the floor entirely, which looks the best and makes cleaning the floor genuinely easier, but needs a concealed frame fixed to something structural and adds real cost and time. In a small tenement bathroom wall-hung can buy back useful floor space and is worth the money. In a standard family bathroom where nobody is short of room, close-coupled does the same job for a fraction of it, and we will say so rather than talking you up the range.

Toilet Installation Questions

Either works. Plenty of people pick their own and we fit it, which is usually the cheaper route because showroom prices on sanitaryware are hard to beat. If you want us to supply, we will. Worth sending us the model before you buy in a tenement flat though, since the pan connection is where these jobs go wrong.

Communication was excellent from my 1st contact with Moe to the completion of the work. This included follow-up messages…

Our radiator pipe was bent and leaking. They answered straight away… Guy was here an hour later and he was wearing ID, very professional, patient and kind. We just got a new carpet in this room and he done an amazing job on getting little to no water on it. Couldn't recommend enough, price was reasonable.

We lost heating just in time for the coldest day of the year with a baby in the house… When I contacted them they were ready to dispatch that night. Fixed by the afternoon. Quoted that morning and no extra charges were added. Honestly cannot thank them enough.

As a small business owner, I needed a drainage company that could respond quickly. The team attended first thing in the morning, cleared the blocked drain and carried out a full CCTV survey. All documentation emailed across promptly. Professional, efficient and great value for money.
