Gas Cooker Installation in Glasgow

New cooker still in the box. Connecting it is twenty minutes of work and it is twenty minutes that has to be done by someone Gas Safe registered, because the bit that matters is not the connection, it is the tightness test afterwards. Mo and David fit it, test it, and leave you the paperwork.

What Happens When You Call

1

Tell us what you have got

Freestanding or built-in, natural gas or LPG, and whether there is an isolation valve already. That is enough for a firm price before anyone travels.

2

Check the existing supply first

Bayonet condition, hose age, isolation valve. These are the things that turn a twenty-minute job into a longer one, and we would rather find them at the start than mid-way.

3

Connect, restrain, test

Cooker connected, stability chain or bracket fitted on a freestanding unit, then a full tightness test on the installation. The test is the part that matters.

4

Paperwork and a run-through

Gas Safe record issued by the engineer who did the work, ignition and burners checked, and the old appliance disconnected and made safe.

What's Covered

Here's what gas cooker installationfrom Mo's team includes.

  • Connection to the existing bayonet or a new one where the old one is dated
  • Isolation valve fitted where there is not one already
  • Stability chain or bracket on freestanding cookers, which is a requirement not an extra
  • Full tightness test on the installation, every time
  • Old cooker disconnected and made safe
  • Gas Safe paperwork issued by the engineer who did the work

Fixed price cooker connection, quoted before we come out, Gas Safe registered engineers, work guaranteed for 12 months.

Who You'll Get

Mo and David do the cooker work, both Gas Safe registered. There is not much mystique to connecting a cooker and we would not pretend otherwise. The reason it is worth having done properly is the tightness test and the stability restraint, neither of which you can do by eye, and both of which are what actually separate a safe installation from one that looks identical and is not. Ask to see the card when whoever fits it arrives, ours or anyone else's.

What Else Often Comes Up

A cooker going in is a sensible moment to deal with two related things. If the property has other gas appliances and no current safety certificate, doing the cooker and a CP12 on the same visit costs less than two visits, and landlords need it annually anyway. The other is the flexible hose, which has a service life and gets ignored because it is behind the cooker where nobody looks. If yours is visibly perished or has been in place a decade, it is a small part and worth doing while the cooker is already pulled out rather than as its own callout later.

Pricing, In Plain Terms

You get a fixed price for the connection quoted before we come out, and that price is what goes on the invoice. It is one of the few jobs we will price over the phone, because a standard cooker onto an existing bayonet really is a predictable piece of work. What changes it is the things around the connection rather than the connection itself: no isolation valve fitted, a bayonet or flexible hose old enough to want replacing, or a cooker going into a position that has never had a gas point. We will tell you which of those is likely from what you describe, and confirm on arrival before starting.

Freestanding or Built-In, and What It Changes

Worth knowing before you buy rather than after it is delivered. A freestanding cooker connects to a bayonet, needs a stability chain, and can be pulled out for cleaning, which makes it the more forgiving choice and the cheaper one to fit. A built-in hob and oven are two separate appliances, usually with the hob on a rigid connection and the oven often electric, which means the fitting is more involved and sometimes brings the electrical side in as well. Neither is better in the abstract. What matters is that a built-in installation is harder to change your mind about later, since the units are cut around it. If your kitchen is being refitted anyway, that is the moment to decide. If it is a like-for-like replacement, staying with what is there is almost always the cheaper and quicker answer.

Gas Cooker Installation Questions

The connection looks simple and that is exactly the problem. Gas work has to be done by someone competent, and in practice that means Gas Safe registered. If you are a landlord it is a legal requirement without qualification. In your own home the law asks that the work is done competently, and the honest reading is that without the training and a tightness tester you cannot know whether it is. A leaking bayonet does not announce itself.

Communication was excellent from my 1st contact with Moe to the completion of the work. This included follow-up messages…

Our radiator pipe was bent and leaking. They answered straight away… Guy was here an hour later and he was wearing ID, very professional, patient and kind. We just got a new carpet in this room and he done an amazing job on getting little to no water on it. Couldn't recommend enough, price was reasonable.

We lost heating just in time for the coldest day of the year with a baby in the house… When I contacted them they were ready to dispatch that night. Fixed by the afternoon. Quoted that morning and no extra charges were added. Honestly cannot thank them enough.

As a small business owner, I needed a drainage company that could respond quickly. The team attended first thing in the morning, cleared the blocked drain and carried out a full CCTV survey. All documentation emailed across promptly. Professional, efficient and great value for money.
