Our Denny house never feels warm, is the heating too small?

There is a test that will tell you before anybody quotes. Run the heating properly from cold and then feel the radiators across their whole surface. If they are getting genuinely hot everywhere and the rooms still are not comfortable, the system is delivering and the heat is leaving faster than it arrives, which is the building rather than the heating. Every gas engineer on the team holds current registration. Mo, Muhammad and David are all Gas Safe registered. Ask to see the card when we arrive, any legitimate gas engineer will show you without hesitation.

Always. Clear price on site before any work begins, and that's what ends up on the invoice, not a revised figure halfway through.

This page is the general one, plumbing, heating, gas and drainage, booked or urgent. Our emergency plumber page is specifically for genuine emergencies, burst pipes, no heating, active flooding, where every minute matters. Either number reaches the same team.

Both. A dripping tap gets the same straight answer and clear price as a full bathroom refit. We don't have a minimum job size that's too small to bother with.

Often, yes. If a boiler fault turns out to need a gas check, or a leak turns out to be a heating system issue, the same engineer handles it rather than you having to book someone else in separately.

Do you use subcontractors?

No. Mo, Muhammad, David, Paul, Kyle and Matt are the team, the same people on every job, not a rotating list of subcontractors working to someone else's standard, and not a franchise badge on a van with a different business behind it.

For most jobs, yes, at least at the start so we can talk through what's actually wrong before we start. For straightforward, pre-agreed work we can sometimes arrange key access, we'll talk it through when you book.

We'll stop, explain what we've found, and give you a revised price before doing anything beyond what was originally agreed. You're never billed for extra work you haven't said yes to.

For some very straightforward jobs, yes, roughly. For most, especially anything involving diagnosis, we'll give you an honest range at best and confirm the exact price once we've actually seen it.

Yes, 12 months on parts and labour for anything we fit or repair, whichever trade the job falls under.

Do you do quotes for bigger jobs like bathroom or kitchen work?

Yes, for larger jobs we'll usually come out, have a proper look and measure up, then give you a written quote rather than a phone estimate, so there's no ambiguity before work starts.

Just call and let us know as early as you can. We'd rather move a booking than have you wait in for a slot that no longer suits, and there's no penalty for giving us reasonable notice, we'll simply find the next time that works for both of us.

Would a bigger boiler fix a cold house?

It would make the rooms warmer and it would do it by burning more gas every winter for as long as you own the house, without changing why the heat is leaving. Where the radiators are already reaching full temperature, the system is not the constraint, so adding output is paying continuously to compensate for something that could be fixed once. Occasionally a bigger boiler genuinely is the answer, and it is worth ruling out the cheaper explanations before deciding that.

What are the cheapest things that actually help?

Nothing a plumber fits, mostly. Draughtproofing round doors, windows and floorboards, since air moving through a room takes heat with it continuously. Getting furniture and full-length curtains off the front of radiators, which is free and surprisingly common. Insulation where there is none. And on the heating side, radiator valves that actually close, so rooms nobody uses are not being heated to the same temperature as the ones people sit in.
