No, and it is one of the more expensive misunderstandings going. The house heats at the same rate whatever the thermostat is set to, because the radiators are putting out what they put out. All a higher setting does is decide when the system stops, so it carries on past the temperature you actually wanted and you pay for the overshoot. Set it to the temperature you want and leave it there.

Is it worth replacing a working boiler to save money?

Sometimes, and less often than it gets suggested. A genuinely old and inefficient boiler on a system that runs constantly can justify it. A boiler that works, is serviced and is fifteen years old usually has a payback period considerably longer than the sales conversation implies. It is worth asking anybody quoting one to explain the saving in terms of your actual system, and being sceptical if they are confident about the number before they have looked at your controls or your radiators.
