In a big house the far bedroom is cold and the hall radiator could dry washing, and both are on the same system with the same boiler behind them. That is a distribution problem rather than a heat problem. Water takes the easiest route it can find, and unless somebody has made the easy routes harder, the far end never gets its share.

About Lenzie
Lenzie is mostly larger detached villas and family homes, and the bigger the house the further the last radiator sits from the boiler and the more balancing actually matters.
Balancing is the least glamorous heating job there is and on a large house it is often the one that makes the most difference. All it means is deciding how much of the flow each radiator gets, rather than letting the system decide by itself. Left to itself, water takes the shortest, easiest circuit, so the radiators nearest the boiler get more than they need and the ones at the far end get whatever is left over, which in a big house is not much.
It gets skipped because it takes a couple of hours, uses no parts and cannot be photographed afterwards. Plumbers under time pressure fit everything, fire it up, confirm every radiator gets warm and leave. All of that is true and none of it is balanced. The householder then lives with a cold far bedroom for years and eventually gets quoted a bigger boiler for a problem an afternoon with a thermometer would have solved.
It is also not a one-off. Every extension, every added radiator and every change to the pipework moves where the easy route is, so a system balanced ten years ago may not be balanced now. Common Problems in Lenzie
Radiators nearest the boiler taking most of the flow
Water goes where the resistance is lowest, which is the shortest circuit. Without the near radiators being throttled back deliberately, the far ones are always last in the queue.
Lockshield valves never adjusted after installation
The small valve under the cap at the far end of a radiator is the one that sets its share. On a lot of systems every one of them is still wide open from the day it was fitted.
A pump turned up to mask the problem
Raising pump speed pushes more water round the easy circuits too, so it makes noise and uses power without changing the balance between them.

Is a Cold Room in Lenzie a Balancing Problem?
Test it before assuming, because balancing and three other things all look identical from the doorway. Turn the heating on from cold and go round the house feeling every radiator at ten minutes and again at thirty. If the ones near the boiler are hot early and the far ones are still lukewarm at thirty minutes but eventually get there, that is balancing, and it is adjustment rather than replacement. If the far radiator never gets warm at all no matter how long it runs, that is more likely its own valve stuck shut or a blockage in it, which is a different and usually smaller job. And if the radiator heats unevenly within itself, top against bottom, the problem is inside that radiator rather than in how the system shares its flow. Only the first of those cases is balancing. Where it is, the work is done at the lockshield valves, throttling the greedy radiators back so the far ones get their share, and it takes a couple of hours with a thermometer on a big house rather than any parts at all. It is worth doing properly once rather than repeatedly guessing at it, and it is worth redoing after any extension or any radiator being added, because every change to the system changes where the easy route is.

If the near ones are hot early and the far ones are still lukewarm at thirty but do get there eventually, that is a distribution problem and it is fixed by balancing rather than by output. If the cold radiator never warms at all however long it runs, that points at its own valve or a blockage in it, which is a smaller job again.
