Plenty of Jordanhill houses have the boiler in a garage, a utility or an outhouse rather than in the kitchen. It is a sensible place for it and it works well for most of the year. What changes is winter, because an appliance in an unheated space is exposed to conditions the rest of the house never sees.
Tell us what's up, we usually get back within the hour with a clear price.
Jordanhill's inter-war villas and semis often have the boiler in a garage or utility, which is an unheated space and behaves differently in a frost.
Jordanhill is a settled residential area of inter-war villas, bungalows and semi-detached houses on generous plots, with later development around the edges. Most of it is family housing that has been owner occupied for a long time, well looked after, and extended or altered at some point.
A good number of those alterations moved the boiler. Taking it out of the kitchen and putting it in the garage, the utility or a rear outhouse frees up a cupboard and gets the noise out of the living space, and it is a common and perfectly reasonable thing to have done. The appliance is generally fine there.
The difference is temperature. A boiler in a heated kitchen never gets near freezing. One in a detached garage can sit at outside temperature for days, and the parts most affected are the condensate pipe and any pipework running through the unheated space with it. Mo covers Jordanhill and is Gas Safe registered, and on this kind of installation the frost question is worth settling before winter rather than during it.
No heat at all and it will not keep is the emergency boiler repair side, same number. This page is booked work.
Booked boiler repairs across Jordanhill and the surrounding G13 streets. Manufacturer certified for Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Baxi, Ideal and Vokera.
Drainage is Paul and Kyle on the same number.
Radiators, valves, pumps, balancing and insulation of runs crossing unheated spaces.
The pipe leaving the boiler is at its coldest before it gets anywhere, because the space it starts in is already at outside temperature. That makes an outbuilding install more vulnerable than a kitchen one even where the external run is shorter.
Most modern boilers have a built-in frost function that fires the appliance if it gets too cold, but it only works if the boiler has power and gas and has not been switched off at the spur. Turning the heating off for a holiday can disable exactly the thing protecting it.
Where flow and return runs cross an unheated space to reach the house, they are exposed too. Insulating them is straightforward and it is regularly left out because the installation works perfectly well in October.
Sounds trivial and is not. An attached garage with the door shut stays well above outside temperature; the same garage with the door up all day does not. It is the single easiest thing to get right.
Jordanhill is priced the same as everywhere else we cover. You get a clear price before any work starts and that price is what goes on the invoice. Frost protection work, insulating a run or resizing a condensate pipe, is at the cheaper end and is worth doing before a cold snap rather than as an emergency during one. If a second fault appears once the case is off, we stop and tell you first.

“Our radiator pipe was bent and leaking. They answered straight away… Guy was here an hour later and he was wearing ID, very professional, patient and kind. We just got a new carpet in this room and he done an amazing job on getting little to no water on it. Couldn't recommend enough, price was reasonable.”

“We lost heating just in time for the coldest day of the year with a baby in the house… When I contacted them they were ready to dispatch that night. Fixed by the afternoon. Quoted that morning and no extra charges were added. Honestly cannot thank them enough.”

“As a small business owner, I needed a drainage company that could respond quickly. The team attended first thing in the morning, cleared the blocked drain and carried out a full CCTV survey. All documentation emailed across promptly. Professional, efficient and great value for money.”
