There is still a cylinder in my Knightswood airing cupboard but we have a combi, what is it doing?

Nothing. A combi heats water as you draw it, so the cylinder stopped being part of the system the day the boiler was fitted. Taking it out is a separate job from fitting a boiler, so it usually was not done. It is not dangerous, it may still be full of water, and it is occupying the most useful cupboard in the house. Yes. If a repair's going to cost more than a replacement makes sense for, we'll say so, even though the repair's the easier sale for us.

12 months on parts and labour for anything we fit. If the same fault recurs within that window, we come back and sort it at no extra cost.

Less than people expect, and considerably less if it is done while the system is already drained for other work. It is draining what is left, disconnecting, getting it out of the cupboard and capping the runs that fed it. The loft tank is usually the more awkward half.
