It varies by manufacturer and by model, and it runs for a period after production ends rather than forever. What that means in practice is that availability is a date rather than a judgement, so anybody diagnosing a fault should be able to tell you whether the part can still be had. The widely fitted makes generally do better on this than unusual ones, which is a practical argument for a common brand that rarely appears in any brochure.

When is repairing not worth it even though the part exists?

When the cost of the part and the labour is a large enough share of a replacement that you are spending most of the money for none of the warranty and none of the remaining life.
