When a Clarkston bungalow or semi gains a sunroom or a bigger kitchen across the back, the boiler flue that used to end on that wall is not always moved at the time. The old boiler keeps running and nobody looks up. Then it comes to replacing it, and a flue that ends inside a conservatory, under a new roof or beside a new set of doors cannot just be refitted where it was. On an extended house in G76, boiler installations start by finding the new boiler a way out that is still outside.
Tell us what's up, we usually get back within the hour with a clear price.
In short: Boiler installation in Clarkston G76 by Gas Safe engineers. Where an extension went up round the old flue, the new boiler needs a new route.

Clarkston's inter-war bungalows and semis have been extended at the back for decades, and in a good number of them the wall that used to carry the boiler flue is now inside the house.
Clarkston grew between the wars around the station and Clarkston Toll, with streets of bungalows and semis at Stamperland and Williamwood, older sandstone villas out towards Busby, flats around the Toll, and later houses filling the gaps. Most of the plots are generous enough to build out at the back, and over the years a great many have been.
In houses of that age the boiler usually went in the kitchen at the back, with its flue straight out through the back wall, because that was the shortest route. The back of the house is exactly where sunrooms, conservatories and kitchen extensions go. When the extension was built, the flue terminal was sometimes moved, sometimes lengthened, and sometimes left where it was with the new walls built round it.
A flue has to end in open air, set distances from windows, doors, roofs and corners, and those distances are measured against the house as it is now, not as it was when the boiler went in. So a replacement in an extended house starts outside, at the terminal. If it still sits somewhere it is allowed to, the new boiler can often follow the old one. If it does not, the new route is the first thing to settle, and it decides how big the job is.
If you think your flue now ends inside the house and the boiler is still running, phone 07988 591331 today instead of waiting for a survey.
Across Clarkston, Busby, Williamwood and Stamperland, each new boiler's flue is planned around the house as it stands now.
A boiler that moves needs a new condensate route, planned alongside the flue.
Moving the heating pipes to a new boiler position, and adding radiators to an extension that was never given its own.
Exhaust from a boiler must never end up indoors, and a conservatory or sunroom built round a terminal is indoors. If we find one, the old boiler is made safe there and then. The new boiler cannot go back on that route, so it needs a flue that reaches open air on another wall or through a roof.
A flue ending just below a new roof or gutter line is often too close to it, and even where it is not, the plume condenses on the underside and drips or stains. Glass roofs show it worst. The new terminal goes somewhere the plume can clear the building instead of rolling along it.
Where the extension has swallowed the old outside wall, the boiler is left on an internal wall with no direct way out. The flue then has to cross the extension, usually inside its ceiling, where any joints have to stay reachable for inspection, or the boiler moves to a wall that still faces the weather.
Some terminals meet every rule and still send their plume straight across a new set of patio or folding doors. On a cold morning that is a cloud you walk through to reach the garden. A plume kit can lift the discharge higher or turn it away, and sometimes a different wall is the simpler answer.
Clarkston surveys are done by Mo or David, both Gas Safe registered, and they start at the terminal outside, not at the boiler. If the flue ends somewhere it should not, they will tell you on the day, and if the old boiler is not safe to keep running they will explain why and turn it off with your agreement, whether or not you go ahead with a new one. Nobody is going to leave you using an appliance they would not use themselves.
Our boiler installations start from £699 inc VAT, with the final price confirmed on the call or the visit. In an extended house the flue route is what moves that figure, whether it means extra flue lengths, access hatches, work on an extension roof or moving the boiler. You get the fixed figure at the free survey, with the route it pays for written down, before anything is booked.
Keeping the boiler where it is and running a longer flue across the extension saves moving the gas and heating pipes, and it suits a boiler that sits in a sensible spot apart from its flue. The flue can run inside the extension ceiling or go up through its roof, within the length the manufacturer allows, and any joints hidden in a ceiling need hatches so they can be inspected. Moving the boiler to a wall that still faces outside, a side wall, a utility room or an attached garage, gives a short flue and a clean finish in the extension. In exchange it needs a new gas run, the heating pipes brought to it and a fresh route for the condensate. Where the boiler is due a move anyway, the second usually wins. We price both at the survey so the choice is made on real numbers.

“Our radiator pipe was bent and leaking. They answered straight away… Guy was here an hour later and he was wearing ID, very professional, patient and kind. We just got a new carpet in this room and he done an amazing job on getting little to no water on it. Couldn't recommend enough, price was reasonable.”

“We lost heating just in time for the coldest day of the year with a baby in the house… When I contacted them they were ready to dispatch that night. Fixed by the afternoon. Quoted that morning and no extra charges were added. Honestly cannot thank them enough.”

“As a small business owner, I needed a drainage company that could respond quickly. The team attended first thing in the morning, cleared the blocked drain and carried out a full CCTV survey. All documentation emailed across promptly. Professional, efficient and great value for money.”
