There are two ways to fix a boiler. You can work out exactly which component has failed and change that one, or you can change the two or three most likely suspects and see if it stops. The second is faster on the day and it is why people end up paying three times for one fault. In a town the size of Galston, doing it the first way is also the only way to stay in business.
Tell us what's up, we usually get back within the hour with a clear price.
Galston is small enough that a job done badly is known about, which is a decent reason to diagnose properly rather than fit parts until the fault stops.
Galston sits in the Irvine Valley between Kilmarnock and Newmilns, a weaving town that became a mining one and is now largely residential. The housing is terraces and semis in runs, some of it going back to the mill years around the older streets, a good deal of post-war and later estate building, and newer development on the edges. Bordering it are Hurlford, Newmilns and Darvel, which share the same pattern.
Boiler faults here are not exotic. The stock is a normal mix of ages and makes and the things that go wrong are the things that go wrong everywhere: fans, sensors, valves, pumps, ignition. What differs is not the fault, it is how it gets approached, and in a small town that shows up faster than it does in a city.
Diagnosing properly means measuring rather than inferring. A fault code tells you which circuit reported a problem, not which component caused it, and the two are regularly different. Mo and David both cover the Irvine Valley and both work the same way: read the code, then test the circuit it points at, then replace the thing that actually failed. It takes longer on the first visit than guessing does and it means there is usually no second visit.
Galston sits on the Ayrshire round with Kilmarnock and the Irvine Valley towns, so a booked boiler repair here usually gets a date within the week and you get a day and a window rather than an open morning. On an intermittent fault, tell us what it does and how often when you book, because that decides whether the visit needs the appliance run under load and how long to allow for it.
No heat at all and it will not keep is the emergency boiler repair side, same number. This page is booked work, where there is time to test rather than get it lit and go.
Booked boiler repairs across Galston and out through the Irvine Valley to Newmilns and Darvel. Manufacturer certified for Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Baxi, Ideal and Vokera.
Drainage is Paul and Kyle on the same number.
Radiators, pumps, valves and balancing across the town's terraced and estate housing.
Manufacturers report what a circuit measured, not what broke. A code for a temperature fault can be the sensor, the wiring to it, a connection, or a genuine overheat caused by poor circulation. Replacing the sensor because the code mentions temperature is a guess dressed up as a diagnosis.
Where a previous visit fitted something and the fault came back, that is information. It usually means the original diagnosis stopped at the code. Knowing what has already been replaced saves us repeating it, so it is worth telling us on the phone.
A fault that appears twice a week and never while an engineer is present cannot be diagnosed by watching. It gets diagnosed by measuring what is measurable, ruling things out in order, and being honest about what is confirmed versus what is suspected.
Sometimes the correct diagnosis is that the economics have gone. On an older Galston boiler that has already had a major part, saying so is worth more than another repair, even though it is the smaller job on the day.
A terrace in the older part of town, boiler shutting down with an overheat code, already fitted with a new thermistor by somebody else a month earlier and doing exactly the same thing. The code was accurate and the diagnosis had not been. The appliance genuinely was overheating, but the reason was that the water was barely moving through the heat exchanger, and the reason for that was a pump running at its lowest speed setting after some earlier work. Nothing was faulty at all. Turning the pump back up and rebalancing the system fixed it, and the thermistor that had been fitted had never been the problem. The code told the truth. It just was not the whole story.
Galston is priced the same as the rest of our coverage with no loading for the journey out. You get a clear price before any work starts and that price is what goes on the invoice. Where a visit ends in a diagnosis rather than a repair, because the part has to be ordered or because the honest answer is that the appliance is finished, we tell you that plainly and you are not charged for parts nobody fitted. If a second fault appears once the case is off, we stop and tell you before going further.

“Our radiator pipe was bent and leaking. They answered straight away… Guy was here an hour later and he was wearing ID, very professional, patient and kind. We just got a new carpet in this room and he done an amazing job on getting little to no water on it. Couldn't recommend enough, price was reasonable.”

“We lost heating just in time for the coldest day of the year with a baby in the house… When I contacted them they were ready to dispatch that night. Fixed by the afternoon. Quoted that morning and no extra charges were added. Honestly cannot thank them enough.”

“As a small business owner, I needed a drainage company that could respond quickly. The team attended first thing in the morning, cleared the blocked drain and carried out a full CCTV survey. All documentation emailed across promptly. Professional, efficient and great value for money.”
