Plenty of Johnstone family houses have one bathroom and five people. Replacing it is not technically difficult and it is logistically miserable if nobody plans the days when the room does not exist. How long you are actually without it depends far more on ordering and sequencing than on how fast anybody works.
Tell us what's up, we usually get back within the hour with a clear price.
Johnstone is largely family housing and a lot of it has a single bathroom, which changes a bathroom job from a building question into a household one.
The thing people ask about a new bathroom is what it will cost. The thing they should ask alongside it is how many days the house has no bathroom, because in a one-bathroom family home that number matters more day to day than a few hundred pounds does. It is also the number most quotes are quietest about, partly because it depends on things outside the fitter's control and partly because nobody enjoys committing to it.
It is largely controllable, though, and the control is mostly in the ordering. A job where every item is on site before anything is ripped out runs to plan. A job that starts because the tiler is free next week and the basin is still on order does not, and the household finds out on day four. Lead times on sanitaryware vary enormously and a single back-ordered item will hold a room hostage regardless of how quickly anybody works.
So we plan Johnstone bathrooms backwards from the days you would be without it. Everything on site before we start, the toilet left connected as long as the work allows, and the sequence set so tiling gets the drying time it needs instead of being squeezed. Mo, Muhammad and David cover the gas and heating side where a radiator or a towel rail is involved, all Gas Safe registered. Paul and Kyle handle drainage, and Matt takes the out-of-hours calls.
Johnstone is on the Renfrewshire round and close in, so booked work usually gets a choice of dates. For a full bathroom we would rather agree a start date once everything has arrived than hold a slot and hope, because a slot you cannot use is worse than a slot a fortnight later.
Out of hours Matt takes the callouts. If a bathroom problem has taken out the only toilet in the house, say that when you ring, because it changes how we prioritise it. Call 07988 591331.
Gas and heating is Mo, Muhammad or David, all Gas Safe registered. Worth pairing a boiler service with bathroom work if both are due, since the system is being disturbed anyway.
Paul leads the drain team and Kyle runs the jetting. A bathroom refit is the best chance anybody gets to look at the waste runs while they are exposed.
Radiators and heated towel rails as part of a bathroom job, and heating work across the family housing here generally.
The bath is out, the tiles are off, and the basin is on a three week lead time nobody checked. That is the single most common reason a bathroom stays a building site.
Of everything in the room, the toilet is the one thing a household cannot manage without, and it usually does not have to come out on day one.
Adhesive and grout need their own time and pushing a fitting date into it either damages the work or means a second visit.
Moving the soil connection is the difference between a straightforward week and an extra day of floor up, and it gets decided casually far too often.
A Johnstone family with one bathroom and three children had a refit booked to start on a Monday. The shower enclosure was flagged as two weeks out on the Friday before, so we moved the start rather than opening the room. It felt like a delay at the time and it saved them about five days of no bathroom, because the alternative was a stripped room waiting on a delivery. The job then ran four days from first fix to using it. The toilet was out of action for one of those.
We give you a clear price before any work starts and that price is what goes on the invoice. We will also give you a realistic number of days rather than an optimistic one. If a layout change or something found under the floor would extend it, we would rather say that at the quote than let it emerge halfway through.
Mostly it is set by choices made weeks earlier, not by how fast the work goes. Start with having everything on site before the room is opened. Not ordered, not confirmed, physically there and checked for damage. One missing item stops the entire job, and it is nearly always the shower screen or the tray. Second, ask when the toilet comes out and when it goes back. On most jobs it does not need to come out on the first morning and it can often go back before tiling is finished, which cuts the genuinely difficult days down to one or two. Say plainly that this matters to you, because plumbers can plan around it easily once they know it is a priority. Third, decide whether the layout is changing, because that is the single biggest variable. Keeping everything where it is means the waste connections stay put and the job is predictable. Moving the toilet in particular means lifting flooring to reroute a soil connection, and that can add a day or more depending on what is underneath. Fourth, allow tiling its drying time instead of booking second fix straight onto it. Rushing that either damages the work or brings somebody back a second time, and the second visit costs you more days than the wait would have. Do all four and a straightforward family bathroom is a working week, with only a short stretch where the house is genuinely without facilities.

“Our radiator pipe was bent and leaking. They answered straight away… Guy was here an hour later and he was wearing ID, very professional, patient and kind. We just got a new carpet in this room and he done an amazing job on getting little to no water on it. Couldn't recommend enough, price was reasonable.”

“We lost heating just in time for the coldest day of the year with a baby in the house… When I contacted them they were ready to dispatch that night. Fixed by the afternoon. Quoted that morning and no extra charges were added. Honestly cannot thank them enough.”

“As a small business owner, I needed a drainage company that could respond quickly. The team attended first thing in the morning, cleared the blocked drain and carried out a full CCTV survey. All documentation emailed across promptly. Professional, efficient and great value for money.”
