Worth dealing with rather than urgent. The bang is water hammer, caused by the machine shutting its valve very quickly while the water behind it is still moving. On its own it will not flood anything tonight. Over years, repeated shock loosens joints and stresses fittings, and it is one of the reasons a joint that was fine for two decades suddenly weeps.
